09:00 AM Pick Up From Trichy Railway Station - Tiruchchirappalli Junction (TPJ)
Your trip begins at Trichy Railway Station, where our team will meet you at 8:00 AM. Please ensure you have breakfast before this time. If needed, a cozy restaurant opposite the station serves a quick and affordable mini breakfast starting at 6:00 AM.
From Trichy, embark on a picturesque 1.5-hour drive to the enchanting land of Chettinadu
This region was the home of the affluent Chettiar community, who built opulent mansions, practiced a unique blend of Tamil culture, and developed a global trading network. The drive offers scenic views of lush landscapes dotted with coconut groves and quaint villages.
Visit Pillayarpatti Temple : Our first stop is the Pillayarpatti Temple, a centuries-old rock-cut shrine dedicated to Lord Ganesha, also known as Karpaga Vinayagar. The unique "growing Ganesha" idol here is carved from a single stone and is believed to grant prosperity and wisdom. The serene temple atmosphere, combined with its ancient Dravidian architecture, creates a spiritual and aesthetic marvel.
Lunch in Karaikudi : Next, we proceed to Karaikudi Village, the heart of Chettinadu cuisine. Here, we’ll dine at an authentic restaurant that specializes in Chettinad flavors. Renowned for its bold spices and aromatic dishes, the cuisine features delicacies like chicken Chettinad, mutton pepper fry, crab masala, etc.
Explore Antique Shops : Post lunch, we’ll delve into the treasure trove of history at Chettinadu’s antique shops. These shops tell a story of a bygone era when the wealthy Chettiar families built lavish mansions filled with exquisite furniture, chandeliers, and art. Over time, many mansions were demolished or abandoned, and the artifacts found new homes in these shops. From teakwood furniture and brass utensils to vintage lamps and rare collectibles, the shops offer a glimpse into the luxurious past of the region.
Visit Chettinadu Sari Weavers and Shops : Stroll through the lively streets lined with sari shops showcasing Chettinadu **cotton saris. Known for their vibrant colors, bold checks, and stripes, these handwoven saris are a testament to the craftsmanship of local weavers. Visitors can witness the weaving process and shop for these exquisite textiles, perfect as souvenirs or gifts.
Arrival at the Heritage Village and Check-In
By late afternoon, we arrive at the Heritage Village of Chettinadu Check into your accommodation in a beautiful Village and and relax. The village exudes a timeless charm, with its narrow lanes, traditional houses, and peaceful ambiance. Enjoy in Pool
Explore a Chettinadu Palatial Bungalow: Evening takes you a currently inhabited Chettinadu Bungalow, a stunning architectural masterpiece. Morning – Heritage Walk : Start your day with a guided heritage walk, weaving through the village streets. The guide will narrate tales of Chettinadu’s history, traditions, and culture. Explore the meticulously planned roads, the majestic mansions, and the communal water tanks that highlight the ingenuity of this ancient community.

During the walk, we will visit Big Houses, Narrow roads, Ponds, Temples, Weavers Home etc

Breakfast and Checkout : Enjoy a traditional Chettinadu breakfast at the mansion, featuring delicacies. After breakfast, freshen up and check out of the accommodation, ready for another day of exploration.
Visit Attangudi Tile-Making Village : Our first stop of the day is Attangudi, famous for its hand-crafted tiles. Watch artisans skillfully create colorful tiles using local soil, natural dyes, and sunlight. These tiles, with their intricate patterns, are a hallmark of Chettinadu architecture and make for unique souvenirs.
Ayyanar Kovil: Land of Mud Horses :Next, we visit Ayyanar Kovil, a temple dedicated to guardian deities. The temple is adorned with rows of majestic mud horse statues, offered by devotees as a sign of gratitude or prayer. The colorful statues and rustic setting create a captivating visual experience.
Exploration of Chettinad’s Historic Landmarks
We continue to explore Chettinadu’s iconic sites
Old Railway Station: A colonial-era station that echoes stories of Chettinadu’s connectivity and prominence.
Old Post Office: A charming building that offers a peek into the region’s history of communication.
Lunch and Secret Villages :After a hearty lunch (self sponsored), we journey to the secret villages of Chettinadu. These less-explored, abandoned settlements are steeped in mystery, with their quiet streets and crumbling mansions creating an otherworldly charm.
Visit Thirumayam Fort : The Thirumayam Fort is our next stop, a 17th-century marvel with massive walls, underground passages, and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. It played a significant role in regional history and is a testament to the strategic prowess of its builders.
Explore Rock-Cut Temples : We conclude the day with a visit to the rock-cut temples, carved into hillsides and adorned with stunning sculptures and carvings. These ancient temples are a blend of spirituality and artistry, offering a serene and awe-inspiring experience.
Return to Trichy
As the day draws to a close, we begin our journey back to Trichy.

Cancellation Policy

A registered participant may cancel his/ her registration online and inform the camp coordinators. The paid fees will be returned after deduction of the following cancellation fees.

  • Alternatively, a registered participant may transfer his/her registration to a friend without any cancellation fee.
  • In case of cancellation of the program due to any gov restrictions due to COVID/ Weather, an alternate date will be provided for the same trip and no refund for that.
  • In case you are not able to join the trek on the new dates, either you can send a replacement ( Without any additional cost) / You can opt for Wallet transfer,
    • What is Wallet Transfer ?:  The amount will move to LGFC Wallet and you can use that for any other trip.  ( 3% fee will be deducted as movement charges) . Strictly there won’t be any refund to a bank account.
    • Wallet transfer is applicable only for the case when a participant wont be able to join the new date on a postponed trip due to Pandemic / Weather situations
    • The wallet transfer offer will only be one time , when the new date is announced. Further changes will be counted as normal cancellations and will be as per cancellation policy
  • Trip-to-trip movement is strictly not allowed.
  • Instalments are to be paid on on before due dates.
  • In case when instalments are pending after due date , the order will be auto cancelled.
  • There will be no refund in case of auto cancellation due to non payment of installment.
