Important Things to Note for a Spiti Road Trip

  • High Altitude Considerations: Spiti is a high-altitude region, so proper acclimatization is crucial. Avoid alcohol, stay hydrated, and take it slow to prevent altitude sickness.
  • Network Connectivity: Only BSNL and Jio work in Spiti, and even these have limited coverage. Expect long stretches without mobile signals.
  • Weather & Clothing: The weather can be unpredictable, with cold temperatures even in summer. Carry warm clothes, gloves, thermals, and rain protection.
  • Cash Availability: ATMs are scarce beyond Manali. Carry sufficient cash, as most places do not accept cards or digital payments.
  • Respect Local Culture: Spiti is home to ancient monasteries and traditional villages. Be respectful towards locals, their customs, and their way of life.
