Nilambur, or ‘Teak Town’ as it is called, comprises 21 beautiful villages nestled among the forests, the banks of the Chaliyar river and the Nilgiri hills.
Conolly’s Plot here is one of the oldest teak plantations in the world. The path to it is beautiful: you’ve got to cross a hanging bridge over the Chaliyar river on foot in order to reach Conolly’s Plot.
There is a Teak Museum nearby is dedicated to spreading awareness about teak. It has a replica of a majestic “Kannimara’ teak tree that grows in the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary nearby
